The Jackson County Hospital District Emergency Medical Service (JCHD EMS) provides pre-hospital care to the citizens of Jackson County. Its approximately 3,000-square-foot Ganado
station was built in 2017 and includes two ambulance bays, two Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) ambulances, and living and working spaces.
Director James Sudik says, “MICU ambulances are equipped at the highest level for pre-hospital care. Not many rural communities have MICUs, so we’re pleased to bring this level of quality
to Ganado.”
In addition to using top-of-the-line ambulances, the JCHD EMS Ganado station also uses advanced solutions from YK Communications — broadband internet, managed Wi-Fi, voice, and CloudCam security.
“The broadband internet we get via the YK Communications fiber network is incredibly important to our work. For example, our ambulances have tablets inside, and our crews do patient charting online. We also have internet-connected cardiac monitors that perform EKGs, take blood pressures and body temperatures, and measure oxygen and carbon dioxide levels. With the touch of a button, we can quickly upload this data to the web, pull it into patient charts, and transmit it to receiving facilities and physicians,” Sudik notes.
Managed Wi-Fi service from YK Communications adds to the internet functionality. Explains Sudik, “We have incredibly fast Wi-Fi throughout our entire building as well as outside in the
ambulance bays. Our crews think it’s great. They’re here in 48-hour shifts, so in addition to using the Wi-Fi for work, they can easily stay connected to friends and family.” He adds, “We’re also pleased with our CloudCam surveillance system. We must have excellent security due to the value of our equipment. CloudCam enables us to verify who’s coming and going at all times, making us feel more secure. We considered other surveillance options, but CloudCam was more affordable.”
YK Communications gives us small town service with big city tech. It’s the best of both worlds.
What does Sudik appreciate most about YK Communications? He replies, “I can walk into the YK Communications office and know the people there by first name. We also have access to
services that some larger communities don’t even have. YK Communications gives us small town service with big city tech. It’s the best of both worlds.”
